The gta Institute is one of the leading teaching and research institutions in the field of the history and theory of architecture. It also includes an exhibitions unit, an archive and a publishing house, and is part of the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Due to the retirement of the current incumbent we are looking for candidates for the following post as of the beginning of Mai 2019 or as per agreement:

Head of the gta Verlag (80%)

In this position you are in charge of both the strategic and the operative running of the gta Verlag. Your responsibilities involve planning and supervising all of the gta Verlag’s analogue and digital book projects. This encompasses publications on architectural theory and praxis, the history of architecture, urban and spatial planning, as well as landscape architecture and the preservation of historic monuments. In particular you are responsible for reinforcing the academic profile of the publishing house, as well as its digital presence. You will be supported in your role by a team with expertise in editing, graphic design and administration. You are directly subordinate to the director of the institute and will work within your remit in cooperation with the professors of the institute and the advisory board.

We are looking for a person with a strong affinity for architecture and with a university degree, preferably a PhD. You possess the relevant practical professional experience and are very well networked in publishing. You are preferably equally proficient in both German and English.

Leiter/in des gta Verlags (80%)

In dieser Funktion führen Sie den gta Verlag strategisch wie auch operativ eigenständig. Sie sind verantwortlich für die Planung und Betreuung sämtlicher analogen und digitalen Buchprojekte des gta Verlags. Diese umfassen Publikationen zu Architektur in Theorie und Praxis, Architekturgeschichte, Städtebau und Raumplanung sowie Landschaftsarchitektur und Denkmalpflege. Insbesondere sind Sie für die Stärkung des wissenschaftlichen Profils des Verlags und seiner Entwicklung im digitalen Bereich verantwortlich. In dieser Aufgabe werden Sie von einem Team in den Bereichen Lektorat, Graphik und Administration unterstützt. Sie sind direkt dem Institutsvorsteher unterstellt und definieren ihre strategische Ziele in Zusammenarbeit mit der Institutsleitung und dem Beirat.

Wir wenden uns an eine stark architekturaffine Person mit Hochschulabschluss vorzugsweise mit Promotion. Sie verfügen über einschlägige praktische Berufserfahrung und sehr gute Vernetzung im Verlagswesen. Sie sind vorzugweise in Deutsch und Englisch gleichermassen versiert.
